Informing Contexts – Venice Door Knobs and Handles Mini Project

Whilst on a trip to Venice, I decided to repeat my mini challenge from Paris in November 2016 which was to capture images that showed something about the town where I was staying. I wanted to capture the images from all over the town and surrounding islands. Images were to be shot on my iPhone and should be colourful.

As in Paris, I was again struck by the variety of door knobs and door colours in the Venice area. The resulting mini project is a visually interesting collection that was great fun to collate.  Below are a selection of the doorknobs and handles images (there are 176 different images in the collection!).

I am pleased with the resulting images.  They remind me that I don’t always have to lug around my Nikon d810, sometimes the iPhone is enough and that there is beauty all around us.
