Final Major Project: Image Layout Experiments

To determine the best way forward, I have been experimenting with grids. Below are a series of initial grids which I am considering.

GRID 1

This grid works well. The images create an intriguing narrative – they are reminiscent of passport photographs

Actions:

  • Re-edit and get sample print done – consider scale.

  • Frame in a white frame.

GRID 2

Thoughts:

  • Another successful grid, however the images are over processed.

Actions:

  • Re-edit more subtlely.

GRIDS 3 AND 4

Thoughts:

  • These images are interesting. The ones where the colour match and cotour makeup lines are just drawn on the face are the most successful.

  • The bottom set are interesting with the addition of a false nose.

Actions:

  • Consider a grid of the images with the lines on.

  • Re-edit to get 6 images that are more subtle in their differences.

GRID 5

Thoughts:

  • Heavily processed.

  • Reminds me of a doll face.

Actions:

  • Needs a more subtle edit – may not work as a sequence

GRID 6

Thoughts:

  • The frst 2 images are the most intriguing.

  • The hair tied back allows more if the face to be seen and it really works.

Actions:

  • Re-edit to get 6 images

GRID 7

Thoughts:

  • All props and makeup will be photographed in this way.

  • The image works well and suggests a set of items that can be selected by the sitter.

Actions:

  • Photograph the rest of the props and makeup and complete the grid.

  • Consider as 1 or 2 large images on one of the end walls of the gallery.
