Final Major Project: Colour Correction

The use of colour correction makeup is growing in popularity. The technique uses the colour wheel to choose colours that help to neutralise ‘imperfections’ on the face so that an even-looking skin tone can be realised.

So, what are the different colour-correcting concealer shades used for?

YELLOW:- Yellow is good for cancelling out blue and purple tones from bruises or veins. It is especially useful under the eyes. Yellow also can be used to correct mild redness.

GREEN:- Green is good for neutralising redness on the skin. Redness could be from sunburn, breakouts, scars or irritations.

PURPLE:- Purple is good for neutralising any dull yellow undertones that exist on light to medium colour skin. Skin can develop yellow spots due to age or sunspots. Purple is also used to add a glow to dull and pasty complexions.

PINK/PEACH:- Pink is used to brighten the skin around the eyes. The colour brightens dullness and discolouration of the skin. It is especially useful if you show signs of fatigue on the face.

ORANGE:- Orange is used to cancel out dark circles and brown spots on the skin. It is especially useful for concealing bags underneath the eyes.

BLUE:- Blue is used to neutralise sallowness and any form of hyperpigmentation of the skin.

TAN:- Tan is a good concealer for blemishes.

DARK BROWN:- Dark brown is good for contouring and adding shape to the face.
